Effective January 1, 2003, Pure Encapsulations' DHEA and Pregnenolone products will have detailed warning language on the labels.

This follows the passing of California Senate Bill SB 1884 in which this law states that products containing steroid hormone precursors, such as DHEA and Pregnenolone, cannot be sold to a person under 18 years of age in California without specified warning language. The sale of any product containing steroid hormone precursors is prohibited unless the product label clearly and conspicuously contains the state mandated warning.

Pure Encapsulations' DHEA and Pregnenolone are sold throughout the U.S. and Europe. Because California is included in this distribution, all Pure Encapsulations' Pregnenolone and DHEA labels, regardless of final destination, will contain the warning. In order to fit the specified warning language on the label, larger bottle sizes are now being used.

Pure Encapsulations suggests that individuals interested in DHEA or Pregnenolone supplementation consult with a physician, and have their hormone levels tested before making the decision to commence or continue supplementation with DHEA or Pregnenolone. These products are best utilized by individuals above 40 years of age, and should not be used to enhance athletic ability or endurance. These products should be used only under the direction and advice of a physician.
