Pure Encapsulations BioAstin® brand natural astaxanthin is measured for "pure astaxanthin" content. Other products may include beta-carotene, lutein and canthaxanthin as part of the total astaxanthin assay. While BioAstin® contains these supporting carotenoids, they are not included as part of the "total" or "pure" astaxanthin percentage. Furthermore, BioAstin astaxanthin is tested via HPLC, a much more accurate and technically advanced method than spectrophotometric analysis used by some other suppliers. Each capsule of our Astaxanthin contains 4 mg of pure astaxanthin naturally derived from haematococcus pluvialis microalgae.
