SP Ultimate: The Next Generation in Prostate Support

While pomegranate, silymarin, curcumin, green tea and vitamin D enjoy highly recognized roles in cardiovascular, liver, skin or bone health, some of the latest advances in prostate research reveal exceptionally promising support for these ingredients in prostate cell health. Combined with the time-tested support of saw palmetto, pygeum and phytosterols for prostate function, SP Ultimate offers the next level in maintaining a healthy prostate.*

-Supports Urinary and Prostate Function
  • Saw palmetto has been used safely for decades to support healthy prostate and urinary function. Its primary mode of action involves supporting healthy testosterone metabolism, in part by maintaining healthy 5-alpha-reductase enzyme activity and receptor binding. It may also help maintain healthy lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase activity. A meta–analysis involving 18 randomized controlled trials and almost 3,000 men indicated that saw palmetto promoted urinary function.*
  • Pygeum africanum contains phytosterols, pentacyclic terpenes and ferulic esters that all play a role in supporting prostate health. Together these components help maintain healthy prostaglandin and prolactin metabolism in the prostate. A meta-analysis involving over 1,500 men revealed that pygeum also promoted urinary function.*
  • Beta-sitosterol naturally occurs as part of a phytosterol complex. Research suggests that it provides support for urinary function in part by moderating 5-alpha-reductase activity. A meta-analysis involving 4 double blind trials and over 500 men indicated that it promoted healthy urinary function. A follow-up study found similar results after 18 months.*

-Promotes Prostate Cell Health

  • Numerous studies, including the Health Professionals Follow–Up Study with over 47,000 participants, suggest that tomato or lycopene intake is positively associated with prostate cell health, particularly for intakes of 6 mg or more. Three capsules of SP Ultimate provide 10 mg of lycopene derived from a natural tomato extract rich in lycopene, carotenoids and phytochemicals.*
  • Higher serum selenium levels have been associated with cell health. In the body, selenium promotes healthy glutathione peroxidase enzyme activity. A recent study indicated that daily intake of 200 micrograms yeast-based selenium supported prostate cell health, particularly for people with lower serum selenium levels.*
  • Vitamin E, or alpha-tocopherol, is a fat-soluble vitamin with critical antioxidant functions. A large cohort study involving 29,133 men revealed that alpha-tocopherol supplementation provided healthy cell support for the prostate. A case-control study using this same population suggests that higher circulating levels from daily intake of alpha-tocopherol may be particularly important.*
  • Research suggests that healthy serum vitamin D levels are positively associated with prostate cell health, a result of its ability to support healthy cell cycle function, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity, cell receptor function and cell signaling.*
  • Prostatic secretions contain high concentrations of zinc suggesting that it plays an important role in prostate function. Additionally, healthy plasma concentrations of zinc have been associated with maintaining healthy prostate cell metabolism.*
  • Pomegranate extract is a rich source of antioxidant polyphenols, including anthocyanidins and ellagic acid. Research indicates that it supports healthy prostate cell cycle function.*
  • Silymarin provides enhanced antioxidant support and promotes healthy prostate cell cycle function and cell receptor function.*
  • Curcumin provides powerful antioxidant support for prostate cell health and maintains healthy MMP activity.*
  • Green tea is rich in polyphenols, particularly the catechin epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). A recent study indicates that green tea polyphenols support healthy cell signaling and MMP activity.*
