Quick Fact – Modified Citrus Pectin
A key ingredient in Pure Encapsulations HM Chelate is modified citrus pectin. Citrus pectin is a water-soluble polysaccharide found abundantly in the pulp and peel of citrus fruits. Unlike other pectins, modified citrus pectin undergoes a depolymerization process enhancing the absorption and bioavailability. Modified citrus pectin has a lower molecular weight, typically between 10,000-20,000 daltons, and an optimal pH of 5.3-6.8 typically. These unique properties allow it to pass through the intestinal barrier and work systemically where it binds to low levels of heavy metals present from common, mild environmental exposure and facilitates their excretion.
