Frequently Asked Question
Q: Is vitamin D absorbed differently in liquid versus capsule form?
A: Fat-soluble vitamin D is generally considered to be easily absorbed. Because it is fat-soluble, it is incorporated into the chylomicron fraction and absorbed through the lymphatic system. About 80% of vitamin D is absorbed through this system. Pure Encapsulations vitamin D is cholecalciferol, otherwise known as vitamin D3. Research has shown that cholecalciferol may be better metabolized than ergocalciferol (vitamin D2).
Vitamin D3 is well absorbed in both capsule and liquid form. For optimal absorption, its recommended to be taken with a meal containing some fat.
